The development of BDAC’s new health and community centre at Prouses Road is underway.
BDAC currently operates across three sites in Bendigo, delivering programs and services to a large client base. This infrastructure isn’t ideal and doesn’t cater for future growth. The new centre, which is being built in stages, will help us provide essential services and support for the local Aboriginal community.
Stage one of the project will include a new administration area, health and wellbeing building, family and community services building, car parks and landscaping. All staff and services will be relocated to Prouses Road, except for the medical centre, which will remain at Forest Street until the new facility is finalised. An existing building is also being renovated and turned into an Indigenous men's shed. Stage one is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
We are currently seeking funding for stage two, which will provide additional services and include a childcare centre, community culture centre, café and community garden, conference centre, and training and education facilities.
We will be updating this page regularly to keep the community informed about how the development is progressing. Please check back for the latest information and photos.
